75 percent attendance means you were present for at least three out of every four classes held. If 60 classes were conducted, 75% equals45 presents; out of 100 classes it equals 75 presents. Fall below that line and most Indian colleges mark youshort of attendance — the standard ground for exam detention.
The attendance calculator 75 above compares your numbers against exactly this line: green Safe at 75% or above, redShort below it, with the precise bunk allowance or recovery streak either way.
Whether you use the 75 percent attendance calculator above or do it by hand, the steps are identical:
Say 48 classes were held and you attended 36:
| Step | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Attendance % | (36 ÷ 48) × 100 | 75.00% |
| Presents needed | ⌈48 × 0.75⌉ | 36 ✓ |
| Bunks allowed | ⌊36 × 100 ÷ 75 − 48⌋ | 0 |
| If you bunk 1 | (36 ÷ 49) × 100 | 73.47% ✗ |
| If you attend next 1 | (37 ÷ 49) × 100 | 75.51% ✓ |
Exactly on the 75% line, a single bunk drops you to 73.47% — which is why the What-if table in the calculator matters more than the headline number.
With zero absences so far, your cushion is roughlyone-third of held classes:
| Classes held | Presents for 75% | Bunks allowed |
|---|---|---|
| 30 | 23 | 10 |
| 40 | 30 | 13 |
| 48 | 36 | 16 |
| 60 | 45 | 20 |
| 80 | 60 | 26 |
| 100 | 75 | 33 |

The UGC recommends a minimum 75% attendance for exam eligibility, and most Indian universities enforce it — often per subject as well as overall:
FAQ
A 75 attendance calculator checks whether you meet the 75% attendance criterion. Enter total classes held and classes attended — it returns your exact percentage plus how many classes you can bunk or must attend in a row to stay at or above 75%. The checker above does all three in one click.
Use the formula (Attended ÷ Total) × 100, then compare with 75. Example: 45 attended out of 60 held = (45 ÷ 60) × 100 = 75% — exactly on the line. To check how many presents 75% needs out of any total, compute Total × 0.75 and round up: 60 classes need 45 presents, 100 classes need 75 presents.
If you are above 75%, maximum bunks = floor(Attended × 100 ÷ 75 − Total). Example: 48 attended out of 60 (80%) allows 4 bunks. At exactly 75% the allowance is zero — one bunk drops you below. Enter your numbers above for your exact figure.
Classes needed = ceil((75 × Total − 100 × Attended) ÷ 25). Example: 28 out of 40 (70%) needs 8 straight attends to touch 75%. The checker above shows your personal streak in the "Must attend streak" tile.
Out of 60 classes, 75% means 45 presents (you can afford 15 absences). Out of 100 classes, 75% means 75 presents (25 absences allowed). General rule: multiply the total by 0.75 and round up — that is your must-attend count.
In most Indian colleges and universities — under UGC guidelines adopted by VTU, Anna University, Mumbai University, AKTU, DU colleges and others — 75% is the standard minimum for semester exam eligibility, usually enforced per subject as well as overall. Some colleges allow condonation down to 65% with medical proof and a fee.
You risk detention from semester exams or "short of attendance" status. Many colleges offer a one-time condonation window (often 65–75% with medical documents and a fee); below that the term usually must be repeated. The recovery streak above shows exactly how many straight attends pull you back over 75%.
Most colleges enforce both: 75% overall plus 75% in each subject and lab. An 85% overall average does not save a subject sitting at 62%. Run each low subject separately through the checker above.
Usually not automatically — medical absence still counts as absent until your department approves condonation with documents. Official duty leave (sports, NSS, NCC, approved events) is often marked present if you submit proof on time. File paperwork before the attendance freeze date.

This 75% checker uses the standard attendance formulas colleges publish, shows every step of the maths, and never rounds until the final display. Rules still vary by institution and batch, so confirm against your official register or ERP for anything formal. Every calculation happens right in your browser — your numbers are never uploaded, stored, or tracked.
